Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony ~ Loveland

More than a tree lighting ceremony, this event includes fun and entertainment for the entire family! Come to Wholand in Loveland. Children and families can get photos with Santa and Dr. Seuss characters, face painting, horse-drawn carriage rides, and live entertainment – all free and open to the public. Hot drinks and treats will be available for a fee. Loveland Mayor and City Manager will countdown the lighting of the tree. After the ceremony, head to downtown Loveland for great local deals from participating restaurants and retailers then over to the Rialto for the fun movie “The Santa Clause”.

Carolfest ~ Fort Collins

On Friday, Dec. 4th, the streets of Old Town will host a chorus of holiday caroling! The 24th Annual Carolfest is a community sing-along celebration that brings together people of all ages and singing abilities in historic Downtown Fort Collins. Professional vocalists will lead the carols on this parade that begins at 6:00pm at the Opera Galleria and ends in Oak Street Plaza. Carolfest is free and open to the public and lyric sheets will be provided.

The Choice City Singers will lead the public in timeless Christmas carols, with the procession of carolers beginning at the Opera Galleria. The caroling group will then bring warm holiday wishes to the residents of the Northern Hotel by singing in their lobby, before moving to Santa’s Workshop in Old Town Square, singing all along the way. The party will then head south down the sidewalks of College Avenue to the final caroling destination in Oak Street Plaza. Carol lyric sheets will be distributed to participants at the Opera Galleria at 6:00pm. Please bring warm clothes and gloves, as a majority of the caroling will be outside. This is a walking event, so participants need to be able to walk the approximate half-mile route.

Northern Colorado’s TUBA Christmas is a national tradition of a “Tuba & Euphonium only” concert ensemble playing a concert of holiday favorites at Oak Street Plaza. The event is open and free to the public, with music starting at 2:00 pm.

First Night Fort Collins ~ Fort Collins

Festivities kick off in Old Town Square at 5:30 pm with a "Kid's Countdown" and Illumination of the Plaza, and will be capped off with a Fireworks display at 10:00 pm.

Make plans to be Downtown on New Year’s Eve for First Night Fort Collins! This non-alcoholic, family-oriented, arts-based celebration attracts an all-ages audience to 50+ performances at 10+ venues throughout Downtown. This event is produced by the Downtown Fort Collins Business Association.

This year’s theme, “Discover the Magic,” offers opportunities to enjoy international dance, live theater and magic shows, comedy, music and singing, wandering entertainment in Old Town Square and more, ranging from circus performers to puppet choirs to fireworks in Old Town Square at 10:00pm!

The evening also showcases Fort Collins’ local arts and performance troupes including Canyon Concert Ballet, Bas Bleu Theatre, Fale African Drum and Dance Collective and Debut Theatre.

Kids will have plenty of room to run with balloon drops, a “bounceland” of giant inflatables, face painters and a Kids’ Countdown in the Square that blasts off at 5:30pm.

Check out the Stevens House, decorated lavishly for the holidays, listen to musical entertainment in the Weld Centennial Church, make crafts in the schoolhouse and much, much more! $3 per adult and kids free (12 and under) with a canned good for the Weld County Food Bank. Or, consider attending the Assistance League’s Holiday Home Tour and visit various unique homes, each of which are decorated for the holiday season. The Assistance League tour benefits local philanthropic causes and costs $15. Ticket for the tour can be purchased at Bargain Box Thrift Store, 1706 9th St.

This day full of holiday cheer begins in the late afternoon inside the school, followed by a small-lighted parade and a chili supper hosted by the Milliken Business Association (MBA).

The Johnstown Historical Society Christmas House Tour is December 12 from 10-3. There will be 4 houses on the tour, besides the Parish House Museum. No worries, other free activities including free pictures with Santa (remember to bring your camera!), kids holiday arts & crafts, games and a gingerbread house making contest!
