Since 1947, people from all over the world have been sending Valentine cards to Loveland to be cancelled with a stamp that sends greetings from the Sweetheart City. Join the Museum, United States Postal Service, and the Chamber of Commerce as we introduce a new generation to this tradition! Learn about the program’s history and help us stamp some of the 2015 Valentines! Both “camp” sessions are open to anyone over the age of 10. Make it a family outing! Both sessions are free but have limited space. Please call the Museum to reserve your spot!


The Loveland Museum/Gallery is an “Official Valentine Drop Site” from February 1 through February 11.

Fire & Ice Festival ~ Loveland

Location: Downtown Loveland along 4th Street from Lincoln Avenue to Garfield Avenue

The nation's Sweetheart City, Loveland, Colo. is launching an epic Valentine's Day weekend celebration unlike any other in Colorado! Presented by Visit Loveland Colorado and Blazen Illuminations, the Loveland Fire & Ice Festival is a family-friendly event featuring a live show-stopping light show musical spectacular that will transform 4th Street in downtown Loveland with lighting projections, illuminations and fireworks accompanied by snow and ice sculptures, a Snow Vehicle Car Show, live, free music and more.

Programming kicks off at 3 p.m. with the light show musical spectacular at 6:15 and 9 p.m. each evening. Buildings along 4th Street in downtown Loveland will be illuminated with Valentine-themed red and white lights and designs. The light show musical spectacular will feature the lights dancing to live music and accompanied by a festive fireworks display.

In addition to the special effects, lighting and fireworks, attendees can experience: Live, free music and performances throughout the event. Nationally renowned snow and ice sculpting teams working their magic along 4th Street. Once complete, see the snow and ice masterpieces lit up with colorful, festive lights. A Snow Vehicle Car Show featuring a collection of vintage and new snow machines and vehicles on display. Romantic carriage rides along 4th Street. Hot chocolate and more stations for families. Local Loveland food and artisan vendors and more.

Loveland's Fire & Ice Festival brings Colorado's best talent together to produce a show stopping light show and special effects display. Blazen Illuminations has been a major player in many Colorado productions including the Denver City and County building Christmas display, and developing Civic Center Conservancy's concept for Denver's Independence Eve lighting and firework display. Blazen has partnered with Angel Light Pyrotechnics for the event. Angel Light provides fireworks and special effects displays around Colorado including the nationally recognized Fourth of July show for the city of Loveland, Independence Eve for the city of Denver, and the Larimer County Fair. In addition, the festival will showcase the many talents and products of local downtown businesses as vendors for event attendees coming to Loveland from other areas of Colorado and beyond. The event is free and open to the public.

Our Winter Farmers' Market will be held on the first and third Saturdays in December and the second and fourth Saturdays in January through April.

Back by popular demand from customers and vendors, the Greeley Winter Farmers’ Market is celebrating its 4th season. This year we are in a new location in downtown Greeley at 1100 8th Avenue. This is the former Garnsey-Wheeler garage and is home to several Greeley artists who have invited us to use their space. Vendors will include fresh baked goods, teas, chocolates, bbq sauce, meats, mushrooms, seasonal produce, local arts, crafts and more.

We’re also planning cooking demonstrations with local chefs, kids’ activities and community informational programs.

Full Moon Walk ~ Estes Park

Free Rocky Mountain National Park Ranger-led full moon walk, a 1 to 1.5 hour walk. Explore the wintery world of Rocky Mountain National Park under the light of a full moon. Join a park ranger on a moderate walk and share stores of the magic of the moonlight. Times and locations will vary each month.

Reservations are necessary (no more than 7 days in advance) Call 970-586-1223 from 8am - 4pm MT daily. Six people per reservation for this program. Outdoor gear appropriate for the conditions will be required. Park entrance fee required.

Rails in the Rockies ~ Estes Park

Clanging bells, tooting whistles, and blaring horns will fill the Estes Park Conference Center on Feb. 14 and 15, 2015 as trains from the steam age to the present time roar along tracks of model railroad layouts at the 16th annual "Rails in the Rockies" exhibit.

Organized by the Estes Valley Model Railroaders, these working exhibits include models of trains from many regions of the United States as well as selected models of British railroads, all of which have been crafted in detail by dedicated model railroaders from all over Colorado. Children will enjoy the "Kids Layout" where they can actually operate model trains themselves.

From the original inhabitants of the Americas to mountain men to modern-day recreationists, people have passed through these mountains (or called them home) for thousands of years. Explore contemporary, historic, and prehistoric strategies for surviving in the Rockies – even in winter. We will begin by looking at examples and discussing basic survival needs for short- and long-term survival situations. Then we will head outside to put our skills to the test – building shelter and making fire amid the snow.
