Fort Collins-Loveland named one of '10 Best Performing Cities in U.S.'
The Milken Institute recently released their 2016 "Best Performing Cities" report, which examines 381 metropolitan statistical areas (MSA's) to identify which ones grew and those that struggled. Nine metrics were used to study each MSA, including job growth, wage growth, high-tech GDP and number of high tech industries. The Fort Collins-Loveland MSA made the Top 10 highest performing cities, coming in at #8 overall. Greeley also ranked well, coming in at #31, followed by Boulder at #34. The Colorado front range continues to be an attractive area for companies to relocate to and expand. In Fort Collins, Comcast will be turning their office located at the Hewlett-Packer campus into a $7.5 million call center. This expansion will create 600 more technical jobs. Nearby in Boulder, Google will soon be tripling their employee base from 350 to 1,000 people. In addition, according to the Metro Denver Economic Corp, 13 companies have announced their move to Denver.Colorado #7 for population growth rate
According to data recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Colorado is the seventh-fastest growing state in the nation. From July 2015 to July 2016 the state population grew to 5,540,454, a 1.68% increase from 2015. Visit Denver, a private nonprofit trade association that markets metro Denver as a convention and leisure destination, has set an aggressive goal of attracting 50 million annual visitors by the year 2025. If approximately half of the visitors spend the night that would translate to $9 billion in economic activity.
